Chiranjeevi sets sights on another blockbuster this Sankranti
Mega Star Chiranjeevi, the undisputed icon of Telugu cinema, continues to make waves with his association with Sankranti releases. Having already achieved double hat-tricks at the festival, the actor is now poised to create history once again with his upcoming film Mana Sankara Vara Prasad garu , slated for Sankranti 2026.
Fans have high expectations for this new venture, with the festive season traditionally being a favorable platform for Chiranjeevi’s films. Over the course of his illustrious career, Chiranjeevi has released 17 films during Sankranti. Three of these came before he became a superstar, while the remaining 14 solidified his status as a leading hero.
After a decade-long hiatus from films due to his political commitments, Chiranjeevi made a grand solo comeback with Khaidi No 150 in January 2017. The film, which released during the Sankranti season, was a massive hit and reaffirmed his Megastar status. This successful return has only amplified expectations for Mana Sankara Vara Prasad garu .
Chiranjeevi’s journey with Sankranti releases began in 1979 with Tayaramma Bangarayya , where he played a negative role. Following his rise as a star, he delivered a series of festival hits: Chattamtho Poratam (1985), Dongamogudu (1987), Manchi Donga (1988), and Attaku Yamudu – Ammayiki Mogudu (1989), achieving a first “hat-trick” of successes.
After taking a brief break, he returned during Sankranti 1997 with Hitler , which became a blockbuster, followed by hits like Sneham Kosam (1999) and Annayya (2000), marking yet another hat-trick in his career. Post-comeback, his Sankranti releases— Khaidi No 150 (2017) and Valteru Veerayya (2023)—were well-received, further cementing his reputation as a festival favorite.
The anticipation for Mana Sankara Vara Prasad garu is high, with fans confident that Chiranjeevi will once again dominate the Sankranti box office. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, known for his unique brand of entertainment, the film promises laughter, drama, and a celebration of the Megastar’s charisma. If the film succeeds as expected, Chiranjeevi will notch yet another hat-trick of Sankranti hits, continuing his unmatched legacy in Telugu cinema.
