Chinese National Arrested in Bihar After Illegal Entry From Nepal

A Chinese national was arrested in Bihar’s East Champaran district after allegedly entering India from Nepal without a valid visa, prompting an investigation by multiple security agencies into his movements, contacts, and purpose of visit.

The accused, identified as Yao Shuzhang , a resident of China’s Shandong Province , was detained by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at the Raxaul border while allegedly attempting to enter India on Saturday. Officials said he was later handed over to the local police, which formally arrested him under provisions related to violation of immigration and foreign entry rules.

Police officials said Shuzhang was carrying a Chinese passport , but did not possess a valid Indian visa or other mandatory travel documents required for entry into the country. A case was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by the SSB.

According to Haraiya police station SHO Kishan Paswan , preliminary questioning revealed that the man was associated with the toy business and allegedly intended to recruit Indian workers for his commercial activities. However, investigators are continuing to verify his claims and determine whether he had any local contacts or business links inside India.

Officials said the arrest has drawn the attention of other intelligence and security agencies because the Indo-Nepal border remains a sensitive and porous route frequently used for unauthorised crossings. Authorities are now examining how the accused travelled through Nepal, whether anyone assisted him, and if there were any other motives behind his visit.

The incident comes amid several recent cases involving foreign nationals being caught attempting to enter India illegally through the Nepal border. Earlier this year, Chinese nationals were also detained in Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh over visa-related violations, raising concerns among agencies about border surveillance and immigration compliance.
