As part of the National Road Safety Month celebrations, the Children’s Traffic Awareness Park at Alia Government Model School in Abids was inaugurated on Saturday by Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. Built at a cost of around ₹14 lakh, the park has been developed with state-of-the-art facilities by the Transport Department.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasized that the primary goal of the park is to instill road safety awareness among students from an early age. “Learning traffic rules during childhood can help reduce accidents in the future,” he said.

At the park, Transport Department officials provided students with practical lessons on road safety. They demonstrated how to follow traffic signals , the correct way for pedestrians to use zebra crossings , and how vehicles should reduce speed near hospitals . Students also actively participated in demonstrations at simulated junctions , road dividers , school crossings , and other traffic zones to understand safety precautions .

Officials noted that such initiatives not only create clear awareness about traffic rules but also nurture responsible citizens . The Minister called on everyone to recognize that road safety is a shared responsibility .
