Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Saturday reacted strongly to statements made by senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu . Rao criticized Chidambaram’s controversial remarks while defending Naidu’s comparison between Hanuman and Superman .

Addressing the media, Rao alleged that Chidambaram’s claim that the “BJP killed Mahatma Gandhi twice” was politically motivated and historically inaccurate . “This is a serious allegation, but it is completely untrue. Using Mahatma Gandhi’s name for political gain is regrettable,” Rao said. He added that such statements are intended to mislead the public and tarnish the BJP’s reputation, particularly during election periods. Rao emphasized that the facts of Gandhi’s assassination are clearly documented in history , and attributing it to the BJP is a distortion of the truth.

On Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu’s remarks, Rao stated that there was nothing wrong in saying Hanuman is greater than Superman. He highlighted that the Superman character and many other superheroes are inspired by mythological figures. “Indian epics and mythology contain powerful characters whose qualities have influenced superhero characters worldwide,” he said. Rao stressed the rich philosophical and cultural depth of Indian traditions , warning against underestimating them. He noted that many Western fictional characters are modeled on traits of Indian deities and heroes , and Naidu’s statement should not be treated as controversial.

Rao concluded by urging that all political leaders be urged to focus on national history, culture, and people’s issues responsibly, rather than making unnecessary remarks that pollute the political atmosphere. He added that, instead of personal attacks being engaged in, discussions should be about development and governance.
