Chennai Police Bust Drug Network, Nine Arrested Including Supporting Actress

The Chennai police , in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (AINU) , have cracked down on a drug network , arresting nine individuals , including supporting actress Anju Krishna , officials said on Saturday. The operation led to the seizure of Methamphetamine and ganja .

Acting on specific intelligence, special teams from the AINU and Valasaravakkam Police intercepted a car on February 4, carrying four individuals identified as Venkatesh Kumar, Karthik Raja, Yashwanth, and Vigneshwaran, all residents of Chennai. The search of the vehicle yielded 6 grams each of Methamphetamine and ganja, 10 mobile phones, a diary, and the car used to transport the drugs.

Interrogation of the first four arrested revealed the involvement of five others, including Anju Krishna from Chennai and Alvipinsha from Kerala. Investigations indicate that the other accused were employed in various companies, showing the network’s reach across multiple sectors.

The authorities emphasized that the operation reflects ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and curb substance abuse in the city. All nine individuals were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody .

Officials continue probing the seized diary for possible records of transactions, other accomplices, or suppliers. The seizure highlights the vigilance of Chennai police and AINU in targeting narcotics operations to safeguard public health and safety.
