Chennai Open tees off with top stars

Chennai will once again take centre stage in Indian golf as the Rs 1 crore Chennai Open tees off at the Cosmo TNGF Golf Course on Tuesday, marking the tournament’s much-awaited return after a three-year hiatus. With a mix of proven champions, rising talents and foreign challengers, the fourth edition promises high-quality competition and intense battles on the greens.

India’s Olympic golfer Udayan Mane headlines a strong domestic field alongside Arjun Prasad, Kshitij Naveed Kaul, Shaurya Bhattacharya, Om Prakash Chouhan and defending champion Manu Gandas, who will be keen to retain his crown.

Adding to the intrigue is a formidable international line-up featuring Sri Lankans N Thangaraja and K Prabagaran, Bangladeshi duo Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain, Italian Federico Zucchetti, Nepal’s Subash Tamang, Uganda’s Joshua Seale and American amateur Vikram Chatterjee.

The local challenge will be carried by Chennai professionals S John Royan, L Gopi and S Prasanth, hoping to make their mark on home soil.

“Chennai has become an important stop on the PGTI… this season’s performances have raised the bar, and we expect another enthralling week,” PGTI CEO Amandeep Johl said.

In the lead-up, the Pro-Am title went to Karan Pratap Singh’s team, finishing with a nett score of 55.
