A new pet-focused cloud kitchen, Wagg n Dine , has been launched in Chennai, offering freshly prepared, human-grade meals for dogs in a move that reflects India’s evolving approach to pet care and nutrition. The initiative aligns with the broader ‘One Health’ approach , which recognises the interconnected well-being of humans, animals, and the environment.

According to a press release, Wagg n Dine specialises in freshly cooked meals made from natural ingredients , delivered directly to customers’ doorsteps. The service aims to provide a healthier alternative to conventional processed pet food, catering to a growing segment of urban pet owners seeking quality nutrition for their animals.

Speaking at the launch, founder Manivannan highlighted a significant shift in consumer behaviour. “India’s pet care landscape is undergoing a fundamental transformation from ‘just feeding pets’ to ‘nourishing family members’,” he said. He noted that the pet food market in India is projected to grow at 6–8 per cent annually , with premium segments expanding at over 20 per cent , indicating rising demand for high-quality, fresh pet diets.

Manivannan also underscored the role of innovation in this space, stating that cloud kitchens for pets could drive the next phase of growth by offering convenience, customisation, and clean-label nutrition. Cities like Chennai, he added, are witnessing a rapid increase in demand for such services as pet ownership rises and awareness around animal health deepens.

The launch of Wagg n Dine reflects a broader trend where pet health is increasingly seen as an extension of human health , reinforcing the principles of the One Health framework. As urban consumers become more conscious about food quality and sustainability, similar ventures are expected to gain traction across India.
