Chemical tanker-bus collision in Mahabubnagar

A major accident was narrowly avoided early Thursday morning on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-44) near Macharam in Jadcherla mandal. A private travel bus carrying passengers rammed into the rear of a chemical tanker, but fortunately all passengers escaped unharmed.

According to officials, the bus was travelling from Kurnool to Hyderabad when it hit a tanker transporting hydraulic acid. The impact caused the tanker to leak, releasing thick fumes that quickly spread across the area.

Two fire engines rushed to the spot soon after receiving the alert. Firefighters managed to control the fumes and secure the location. Jadcherla police confirmed that there were no casualties, and all 32 to 45 passengers in the bus were safely evacuated.

Police have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
