
Charlapalli–Thiruvananthapuram Weekly Amrit Bharat Express Starts
The Central Government has allotted a new Amrit Bharat Express train service between Charlapalli Terminal (Hyderabad) and Thiruvananthapuram , the capital of Kerala. This is the second Amrit Bharat train for Telangana , after the Charlapalli–Muzaffarpur service. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the new train from Thiruvananthapuram at 10:45 AM today .
The train will run once a week . Train No. 17041 (Charlapalli–Thiruvananthapuram) will depart from Charlapalli every Tuesday at 7:15 AM and reach Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday at 2:45 PM . In the return direction, Train No. 17042 (Thiruvananthapuram–Charlapalli) will leave Thiruvananthapuram every Thursday at 11:30 PM and arrive at Charlapalli on Saturday at 5:30 PM .
The journey covers a distance of 1,488 km in 31 hours and 30 minutes , with stoppages at 29 major stations across four states . In Telangana, the train will halt at Charlapalli, Nalgonda and Miryalaguda , while in Andhra Pradesh it will stop at Sattenapalli, Guntur, Tenali, Bapatla, Ongole, Nellore and Renigunta . It will then travel through Tamil Nadu via Salem, Erode and Coimbatore , and continue through Kerala covering major regions such as Palakkad, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Kollam , before reaching its destination at Thiruvananthapuram.
The Amrit Bharat Express is designed to provide a comfortable travel experience at affordable fares for common passengers. It features push–pull technology , with engines at both the front and rear, which helps improve speed and reduce jerks during travel. The train will have 8 sleeper coaches and 11 general coaches . Though it does not include AC coaches, it offers several passenger-friendly facilities such as foldable snack tables, mobile holders, mobile charging points, radium floor strips for better night visibility, modern toilets , and special facilities for persons with disabilities .
This new train is expected to be a major benefit for Telugu devotees travelling to Kerala’s famous pilgrimage centres like Sabarimala (Ayyappa Swamy), Guruvayur , and Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram . A pantry car facility will also be available for passengers. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for allotting this train service to Telangana.
