Tension gripped the Gandaboyinapalle toll plaza in Annamayya district after supporters of TDP MLA A. Surendra Babu allegedly created a ruckus, attacking toll employees and damaging property. The incident left several staff members injured, including the plaza manager, and sparked widespread concern.

According to police , the incident occurred on April 25 when the MLA’s convoy was travelling from Tirumala to Madanapalle. Despite attempts by toll staff to explain the situation, the MLA’s aides allegedly lost patience.

Eyewitnesses said members of the escort vehicle stepped out in anger, broke the toll barrier , and vandalised property within the plaza. A woman employee, M. Srilatha, was allegedly assaulted , dragged by her hair, and verbally abused while trying to intervene.

The situation escalated further when plaza manager N. Ravi Babu came out of his office after noticing the disturbance. He was reportedly dragged downstairs and beaten . Speaking to the media , he said the attackers did not stop even when he pleaded.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV , and the footage has since gone viral on social media, drawing the attention of higher authorities. Based on a complaint filed by the toll management, police registered a case and launched an investigation .

The attack on staff performing their duties has drawn sharp criticism, with employees demanding strict action against those responsible. Authorities said a detailed probe is underway.
