Scottish football has been left shaken after officials strongly condemned a field invasion that followed Celtic’s dramatic title clinching victory over Hearts in a tense final round showdown that ended in controversy and chaos.

The decisive moment came deep into stoppage time when Callum Osmand struck in the eighth minute of added time to secure a 3 to 1 win for Celtic , sealing yet another league triumph. The late goal triggered jubilant celebrations inside Celtic Park, but the scenes quickly turned disorderly as hundreds of supporters spilled onto the pitch.

During the uncontrolled celebrations, some fans reportedly came into close contact with opposition players. Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland was allegedly punched by a Celtic supporter while attempting to leave the field, raising serious concerns over player safety and security lapses. The Hearts squad later departed the stadium under heightened distress, with reports stating that players and staff were still in full match kit when they arrived back at Tynecastle Park.

The club described reports of serious physical and verbal abuse towards their personnel as deeply disturbing and demanded the strongest possible action against those responsible.

In response, the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) issued a firm statement condemning the pitch invasion. The governing body said that while it was awaiting the official match delegate report, any entry by supporters onto the field of play was “wholly unacceptable” and placed both players and staff at risk.

The SPFL also clarified that, before the trophy presentation, the referee confirmed the match had officially concluded and was not abandoned. It added that the contest showcased the excitement of Scottish football, despite the troubling scenes that followed.

The result confirmed Celtic as champions for the fifth consecutive season and their 14th title in 15 years, while Hearts , who had led the race for much of the campaign, were left to reflect on a missed opportunity for a first league crown since 1960.
