Chandrababu’s Political Countdown Has Begun, Says YSRCP’s Kakani

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders and workers must remain united and work towards a decisive victory in the upcoming local body elections, former minister and YSRCP Nellore district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy said on Sunday.

Addressing an extended party meeting organised under the leadership of MLC Parvatareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy in Nellore, Kakani called on the cadre to treat all 72 seats in the Nellore Municipal Corporation as a priority and work with the sole objective of winning them. He also distributed identity cards to party leaders and workers along with Chandrasekhar Reddy.

Kakani urged leaders to put aside minor differences and follow the directions of party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Describing the YSRCP as one family, he assured workers that those who stood by the party during difficult times would receive due recognition and opportunities in the future.

Kakani said the YSRCP was ready to take on the TDP and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the local body elections. He claimed that Jagan's announcement on the elections had already caused concern among TDP ranks.

He alleged that Chandrababu was making fresh promises ahead of the elections in an attempt to win back public support. Referring to statements about providing pensions after 27 months, Kakani termed them part of a political strategy and claimed that people were no longer willing to believe such assurances.

Kakani also accused the ruling party of neglecting Nellore city's development and criticised Minister Narayana for allegedly being inaccessible to residents. He praised Chandrasekhar Reddy for standing by people despite being in the Opposition.

Kakani demanded clarity over alleged irregularities in DSC recruitment, accusing the government of delaying answers through inquiries and committees. He questioned the decision to increase the sports quota from 2 per cent to 3 per cent and expand recognised sports from 29 to 65.

He also questioned changes to GAD rules concerning teachers appearing for competitive examinations, saying the Chief Minister, who holds the GAD portfolio, could not have been unaware of such decisions.

Kakani further said YSRCP workers would not be intimidated by alleged cases or threats and warned that the party would stand by its cadre. He urged ticket aspirants who may not receive nominations to remain committed, assuring them of recognition for their contribution.
