Chandrababu Directs Officials to Shield Poultry, Horticulture Sectors

Amid rising global tensions , Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu asked officials to take preventive steps to shield the state from possible economic and supply disruptions. He noted that the conflict situation near Iran could affect Gulf countries and indirectly impact the state’s economy .

At a review meeting held at the Real Time Governance Centre in the Secretariat at Amaravati, the Chief Minister instructed officials to closely monitor essential supplies, exports, and the safety of Telugu people living abroad .

Focus on Gulf NRIs and Exports

The Chief Minister directed officials to keep track of the situation of Telugu expatriates in Gulf nations and coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs if assistance becomes necessary.

He also asked departments to closely watch the poultry and horticulture sectors , as Andhra Pradesh exports large quantities of eggs, chicken products, bananas, mangoes and vegetables to countries such as Oman, United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

Officials said the state exports around 200–250 million eggs annually to Gulf markets, while horticulture exports are estimated at ₹1,500–₹2,000 crore each year. The Chief Minister advised officials to identify alternative markets to avoid losses if international trade routes are disrupted.

He also instructed departments to keep a close watch on the availability of LPG and other essential commodities and explore alternative supply channels if required.

Power Supply and Housing Programme

Reviewing the power sector, officials informed that peak electricity demand in the state has reached 14,013 MW . The Chief Minister directed power utilities to ensure uninterrupted supply and carry out an energy audit .

He also announced that 2.5 lakh beneficiaries will participate in a mass housewarming programme during Ugadi across the state.

Technology and Drone Initiatives

Emphasising technological advancement, the Chief Minister asked officials to implement agreements signed at the AI summit held in New Delhi. With support from companies such as IBM, the state plans to set up AI Living Labs and introduce services like AI Agronomist, AI Tutor and AI Doctor.

He also directed officials to speed up the Drone City project at Orvakal in Kurnool, including drone training and flying facilities.

Strengthening CCTV Surveillance

To strengthen law enforcement, the Chief Minister instructed officials to expand the CCTV network , integrating around 14,000 cameras across the state for quicker crime detection and prevention.
