Chain Collision on Rajamahendravaram National Highway; 26 Injured as Three Buses Crash

A chain collision involving three private buses carrying students occurred on the national highway near Deevan Cheruvu junction on Wednesday evening , triggering panic among passengers. About 26 students sustained minor injuries , while the bus drivers were seriously injured .

The buses were transporting 109 students, teachers and staff from a model government school and college near the Dindi project in Nalgonda district of Telangana , who had gone on a three-day educational tour to Araku and Paderu . While returning after offering prayers at the Annavaram Sri Satyanarayana Swamy temple , the convoy was heading towards Rajamahendravaram when a cow suddenly crossed the road . The leading bus applied sudden brakes , and the two buses following it failed to control their speed , resulting in a rear-end collision .

Students onboard were briefly trapped and terrified , screaming for help after the impact. Local residents, police and Home Guards rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations . The injured students were given first aid on the spot , while the drivers were shifted to the Rajamahendravaram Government Hospital for further treatment.

The accident led to heavy traffic congestion on the national highway for over an hour. Police regulated vehicular movement and later restored normal traffic . The remaining students were safely shifted to a nearby shelter at Deevan Cheruvu , where arrangements were made for their rest and safety.

Karnataka Accident

In a separate road mishap in Karnataka , a private bus rammed into a lorry near Agalakurki in Chikkaballapur district . The accident claimed one life , while around 10 passengers were injured . Two persons, including the bus cleaner, remain in critical condition. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation .

Police have once again advised drivers to exercise caution on national highways , especially during night travel , as sudden animal crossings continue to pose a serious risk.
