Census 2027 Begins In Jharkhand: Self-Enumeration Drive From May 1

The first phase of the Census 2027 will begin in Jharkhand on May 1 with a self-enumeration exercise , allowing residents to digitally submit key household information, officials said on Tuesday.

The initiative, which will remain open until May 15 , will enable individuals and families to provide details such as household composition, housing conditions, and access to basic amenities through an online portal.

Describing the process as simple and convenient , Prabhat Kumar, Director of the Jharkhand Directorate of Census Operations , urged citizens to actively participate in the exercise and ensure accurate submission of their data.

Following the completion of the self-enumeration phase, the Housing Listing and Housing Census (HLO) field operations will commence on May 16 and continue until June 14 . During this period, enumerators will conduct door-to-door visits across the state to collect detailed demographic and housing data.

Officials said nearly 76,000 enumerators and supervisors will be deployed across Jharkhand to carry out the large-scale field exercise and ensure comprehensive coverage.

The census process is expected to play a crucial role in updating demographic records and supporting future policy planning and welfare delivery in the state.
