CBSE launches data-driven school report card

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched the School Academic Performance Report Card for all affiliated schools for the academic session 2024–25, marking a significant step toward data-driven academic reflection and planning.

This initiative, introduced for the first time by the Board, aims to help schools analyze their performance through comprehensive, evidence-based insights. The report card provides a detailed analysis of Class 10 and 12 board examination results, benchmarking each school’s outcomes against state-level and national CBSE averages across subjects.

According to CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, the report enables schools to “identify their relative strengths and areas for improvement,” while also tracking performance trends among male and female students to promote gender equity in learning outcomes.

In addition to academic indicators, the report card also includes data on student participation and achievements in sports and games, comparing school-level performance with results at the cluster and zonal levels.

Gupta added that the move is designed to empower schools with actionable insights that support continuous improvement in both teaching and learning processes.

CBSE has encouraged school principals to review their report cards carefully and integrate the findings into their annual pedagogical and academic plans, thereby fostering a culture of accountability, reflection, and sustained academic excellence.
