
CBL Invites Singareni for Lithium Mining Partnership in Brazil
Companhia Brasileira de Litio (CBL) , a leading lithium mining company based in Brazil, has expressed interest in partnering with Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) . In this regard, a high-level CBL delegation met Dr N. Balaram, Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL , in Hyderabad and formally invited the company to join as a partner in lithium mining operations in Brazil . Officials said the meeting could open new avenues for cooperation between the two countries in the mineral sector .
During the discussions, Board Director Daniel Leme and Chief Executive Officer Vinicius Alvarenga briefed Singareni officials on the company’s ongoing lithium mining projects, current operations and future expansion plans. They stated that CBL is moving ahead with the objective of expanding lithium mining, processing and supply systems in Brazil. They expressed the view that a partnership with a rapidly developing country like India would yield strong long-term economic benefits .
The delegation noted that lithium has emerged as one of the most critical minerals globally . They explained that its use is growing rapidly in electric vehicles, renewable energy storage systems, advanced batteries and technology devices . With global demand for lithium expected to increase further in the coming years, they stressed the importance of establishing strategic partnerships at an early stage. In this context, they disclosed that discussions are already underway with several Indian companies regarding lithium mining and supply collaborations.
On behalf of Singareni, Director (Projects and Planning) K. Venkateswarlu and Director (Personnel and Finance) Gautham Potru outlined the company’s strengths. They said that with decades of experience in the coal mining sector, Singareni is drawing up plans to expand into the critical minerals segment in the future. Singareni officials clarified that a final decision would be taken only after conducting a detailed assessment of the technical feasibility, commercial viability and strategic advantages of participating in lithium mining projects in Brazil.
