Carrier Invests ₹1,000 Crore in Sri City, Launches State-of-the-Art AC Plant
Andhra Pradesh has secured a major industrial investment with global cooling solutions leader Carrier Global Corporation committing ₹1,000 crore to establish a large-scale manufacturing facility in the state. The new air-conditioner production unit will come up at Sri City in Tirupati district , strengthening the region’s position on India’s manufacturing map.
The project is expected to create nearly 3,000 employment opportunities , including 1,000 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect roles, offering a significant boost to the local economy.
The investment followed detailed discussions between the company’s leadership and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu along with IT Minister Nara Lokesh . Impressively, the proposal moved from initial engagement to land allocation and final approval within eight months, underscoring the state government’s fast-track clearances and pro-industry policies. Spread over 39 acres , the facility is expected to transform Andhra Pradesh into a key hub for air-conditioner manufacturing.
Designed as a green manufacturing unit, the plant will focus on producing energy-efficient and environmentally responsible commercial cooling systems. Though the company currently operates out of Haryana, it has selected Andhra Pradesh as a strategic expansion base to meet rising demand across domestic and global markets.
The lease agreement was formalised in the presence of Tirupati District Collector Dr. S. Venkateshwar, with Carrier India MD Sundaresan Narayanan and Sri City MD Ravindra Sannareddy exchanging documents. Company officials stated that the project would prioritise employment for local youth while introducing advanced, technology-driven products . They also highlighted Sri City’s strong infrastructure and seamless connectivity as key factors behind the investment decision.
