The 2026 FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship is set for an exciting conclusion as Magnus Carlsen prepares to face Fabiano Caruana in the final at the Weissenhaus Private Nature Resort . The two grandmasters advanced through the semifinals on Saturday after intense matches, setting up a clash between two of the world’s top players.

In the semifinals , Carlsen defeated Nodirbek Abdusattorov 3–1 , while Caruana edged past Vincent Keymer 2.5–1.5 , demonstrating strategic mastery in the Freestyle Chess format . Carlsen topped the standings with 4.5 points , followed closely by Caruana, Keymer, and Abdusattorov with four points each.
