Car Rams Stationary Truck in Jamshedpur, Four Killed, Minister’s Daughter Among Victims

Four people, including the daughter of Jharkhand Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Dipika Pandey Singh, were killed when their car rammed into a stationary truck in Jamshedpur in the early hours of Thursday, police said.

The deceased were identified as Trisha Singh, Sarthak Agarwal, Naman Gupta and Vanshika Khandelwal. All four occupants of the car died on the spot, Sonari police station officer-in-charge Sanjay Suman said.

The accident occurred on Marine Drive Road under the Sonari police station area. Police said the truck was parked on the right side of the four-lane road, close to the divider, after apparently breaking down.

Visuals from the spot showed a small tree branch placed behind the stationary truck. However, no reflector or warning signage was visible near the vehicle. The car was badly mangled after the collision.

The bodies were taken to MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur for post-mortem. Trisha's mortal remains were later brought to Ranchi, where several political leaders and public representatives gathered at the minister's official residence to offer condolences.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed grief over the deaths and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. "Today, I have no words," Soren said in a social media post, praying for peace for the departed souls and strength for the grieving families.

Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar also expressed sorrow over Trisha's death, describing the incident as deeply distressing. He said the loss of a child was an immeasurable grief for any parent.

Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi and BJP leader and former chief minister Champai Soren also condoled the deaths.

The last rites of Trisha Singh were performed at Sithio in Ranchi, an official said.
