Can India Make It 3-0? Team India Gear Up for Third T20I Against New Zealand
India are preparing for the third T20I against New Zealand on Tuesday, October 27, aiming to seal the five-match series after securing a 2-0 lead with consecutive victories in the opening matches.
The Indian team continued its preparations in Wellington, with batters Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Naman Dhir fine-tuning their skills in the nets. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy also worked on his bowling, while left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav was spotted batting alongside head coach Gautam Gambhir.
India began the series with a thrilling four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the first T20I at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 22. Batting first, New Zealand posted an imposing 225/4 in 20 overs, putting India under pressure in the chase.
However, Sanju Samson led India's response with an impressive 67 off 33 balls, while Naman Dhir remained unbeaten on 42 off just 15 deliveries. Dhir's late assault helped India reach 230/6 in 19.4 overs, completing the chase with two balls to spare.
India followed up that performance with another four-wicket win in the second T20I on October 24 at the same venue. New Zealand scored 180/5 in 20 overs, setting India a target of 181 runs.
The visitors maintained their composure in another closely contested chase, reaching 181/6 in 19.5 overs to secure victory in the final over. Tilak Varma and Nitish Kumar Reddy played important roles in guiding India to their second consecutive win.
With two victories from the opening two matches, India are now in a strong position to clinch the series. A win in Wellington would give the team an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match contest, while New Zealand will look to bounce back and keep its hopes alive.
The third T20I is expected to be another important test of India's batting depth and bowling strength as the team looks to maintain its winning momentum.
