Gold prices remained unchanged in the national capital on Wednesday, while silver extended its losing streak for a third consecutive session , reflecting subdued demand in the domestic bullion market.

According to the All India Sarafa Association, 99.9 per cent purity gold was steady at ₹1,46,300 per 10 grams , inclusive of all taxes, matching Tuesday's closing price. Despite fluctuations in global markets, the precious metal managed to hold its ground in domestic trade.

Silver, however, continued to witness selling pressure , slipping ₹100 to ₹2,26,000 per kilogram from the previous day's level of ₹2,26,100 per kg .

Market participants attributed the muted movement in bullion prices to weak buying interest from jewellers and industrial users, which kept the domestic market largely range-bound . With consumer demand remaining subdued, traders refrained from making aggressive purchases, resulting in limited price movement.

The cautious sentiment was also reflected in overseas markets. Spot gold declined by USD 23.30 (0.57 per cent) to USD 4,029.66 per ounce , while spot silver traded nearly 1 per cent lower at USD 58.26 per ounce during the session.

Looking at the six-month trend , 24-karat gold touched a record high of ₹1,69,349 per 10 grams on March 2, 2026 , before correcting sharply in the months that followed. At the current level of ₹1,46,300 per 10 grams , gold is trading around ₹23,000 , or 13.6 per cent , below its record peak.

The sharp correction highlights that while prices remained flat on Wednesday, the broader trend has been far more volatile . Analysts said global market movements, currency fluctuations and interest rate expectations continue to play a much bigger role in determining bullion prices than day-to-day domestic price changes.

Analysts added that investors are closely monitoring global economic developments and market sentiment for fresh direction. While domestic gold remained resilient despite weaker international prices, silver continued to face pressure from softer industrial demand. The near-term outlook for bullion is expected to depend on global economic cues, investor sentiment and recovery in domestic demand.
