Buying a Maruti Soon? Cars Set to Get Costlier From June 2026

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India , has announced a fresh price hike across its vehicle lineup , with increases of up to Rs 30,000 set to take effect from June 2026 . The company cited rising input costs , persistent inflationary pressures , and a challenging cost environment as the key reasons behind the move.

In a regulatory filing on Thursday, the automaker said the price revision would apply across its entire portfolio, though the exact increase would differ from model to model. The decision comes at a time when automobile manufacturers across the industry are grappling with higher commodity prices , supply chain expenses, and increasing operational costs.

According to industry estimates, some of Maruti Suzuki’s most popular models could witness notable price increases after the revision. The entry-level Alto K10 , currently priced from around Rs 4 lakh , may become costlier by approximately Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 . The widely popular WagonR and Swift are also expected to see hikes in the range of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 , while premium SUVs such as the Grand Vitara and Invicto could become dearer by nearly Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 depending on the variant.

The company stated that it had been trying to absorb a major part of the cost burden over the past few months through cost reduction measures . However, with inflation continuing to remain elevated, Maruti Suzuki said it could no longer shield the market entirely from the impact.

“While the company has made continuous efforts to minimise the effect on customers, a portion of the increased costs now has to be passed on to the market,” the statement noted.

The development is significant for India’s passenger vehicle market, where Maruti Suzuki continues to hold a dominant position. The company currently sells a wide range of vehicles, starting from the affordable S-Presso and Alto K10 to premium offerings such as the Invicto . Its products are priced between around Rs 3.49 lakh and Rs 28.7 lakh (ex-showroom).

The announcement also comes months after the company introduced a price protection scheme for customers affected by production delays and long waiting periods. Maruti Suzuki had ended FY26 with nearly 1.9 lakh pending customer orders , including about 1.3 lakh bookings in the small-car segment .

Interestingly, the latest price hike follows substantial price cuts introduced last year after the implementation of GST 2.0 . At the time, Maruti Suzuki had reduced prices of several entry-level cars, including the S-Presso , Alto K10 , Celerio , and WagonR , making them significantly more affordable for budget-conscious buyers.

Industry observers believe the latest revision reflects the growing pressure on automobile manufacturers to maintain profitability amid fluctuating raw material costs and inflationary trends. For consumers planning to purchase a new vehicle, the next few weeks may be the final opportunity to avoid the upcoming increase.
