A major road accident occurred near Nandigama early Tuesday morning when a private Kaveri Travels bus crashed into a lorry at the Anasagaram bypass in NTR district.

According to police, the bus was attempting to overtake the lorry when it collided with the vehicle ahead. Eight passengers sustained injuries, and the condition of three of them is said to be critical.

Nandigama police rushed to the spot after receiving information and immediately began rescue operations. The injured were shifted to the nearby government hospital, while the three critically injured passengers were later moved to a private hospital for better treatment.

Officials said the bus was carrying 23 passengers at the time of the incident, and the impact left the left side of the vehicle badly damaged.

Preliminary investigation suggests that driver negligence and unsafe overtaking led to the accident. Police have registered a case and begun further inquiry. The Transport Department has also been informed and will inspect the bus’s technical condition, permits, and the driver’s record.

The accident has once again raised concerns over increasing violations of speed limits on this stretch of road, with locals and passengers expressing worry about recurring mishaps in the area.
