BRSV Questions Rs 1,000 Crore OU Development Funds
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi (BRSV) staged a protest at Osmania University on Tuesday, demanding clarity from the Telangana government over the release and utilisation of the Rs 1,000 crore announced for the university’s development.
The protest was held in front of the OU Arts College under the leadership of BRSV state vice-president Padala Satish and state secretary Rajesh Naik. The protesters burnt an image of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to register their opposition to the government’s handling of the funds announced for the historic university.
BRSV leaders said the government had announced an allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for the comprehensive development of Osmania University and had stated that orders concerning the funds were issued in December 2025. However, they questioned why there was still no clear account of the amount released so far or the manner in which the funds were being utilised.
The student leaders sought details on the funds released, projects sanctioned, expenditure incurred and progress of development works. They said students and members of the university community had the right to know whether the promised funding had actually reached the institution and how it was being spent.
The BRSV leaders also accused the government of failing to provide clarity on several assurances made to youth and unemployed people during the elections. They questioned the status of the promise to fill two lakh government vacancies during the first year of the government’s tenure.
They further sought an explanation over the assurance of providing Rs 4,000 monthly unemployment assistance and demanded a concrete roadmap for the implementation of the job calendar. They said thousands of unemployed youngsters had been waiting for recruitment opportunities for years and deserved clarity on the government’s plans.
Describing Osmania University as a historic institution that played a crucial role in the Telangana movement, the BRSV leaders said its development should not be confined to government announcements. They urged the government to release the promised funds in full and accelerate pending infrastructure and development works.
The student organisation said it would continue to pursue the concerns of students, unemployed youth and young people through democratic protests until the government responds to their demands and provides detailed information on the Rs 1,000 crore allocation.
