BRS Stages Walkout in Assembly Over Employee Issues

The BRS party on Monday strongly criticized the Telangana government during the Assembly budget session over unresolved employee issues. Protesting the lack of clarity, BRS MLAs staged a walkout after Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka failed to provide a definite timeline on key demands such as the release of five pending Dearness Allowances (DAs), implementation of the new Pay Revision Commission (PRC), and abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

The party accused the government of continuing to blame the previous administration despite being in power for more than two and a half years. It questioned when the pending DAs would be cleared, when the PRC would be enforced, and what decision would be taken regarding CPS, alleging that the government had not given any clear response.

The BRS also highlighted that during its tenure, pension benefits were provided to 88,000 retired employees, and demanded to know when the current government would fulfill similar commitments. Condemning what it described as the government’s neglect of employee concerns, the party staged a walkout from the Assembly.

Separately, BRS leader Harish Rao targeted the government over the Philippines rice export issue. He questioned the appointment of Prem Chand—who is reportedly facing CBI and ED cases—as an export advisor, and asked whether his involvement had caused losses to the state . He pointed out that despite an MoU for exporting 10 lakh tonnes of rice, only 22,750 tonnes had been shipped. He further alleged that another 7,500 tonnes had been lying unused at Kakinada Port for nearly a year.

Rao demanded the formation of a House Committee to probe the issue. He also accused the government of neglecting farmer welfare and delaying key decisions on PRC and DAs. Additionally, he alleged that schemes like loan waivers and Rythu Bharosa had stalled, and claimed that the government was presenting misleading data.
