BRS Launches Statewide Protests Against SIT Move Targeting KCR

Massive protests erupted across Telangana as leaders and workers of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged demonstrations opposing the Special Investigation Team (SIT) notices issued to former Chief Minister and party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) in the alleged phone-tapping case. Accusing the Congress government of political vendetta, party ranks launched statewide agitation programs on Sunday, with constituency headquarters witnessing intense demonstrations.

BRS leaders and activists took to the streets in large numbers carrying black flags and wearing black badges, raising slogans against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy . Former MLAs, MLCs, and district presidents led the protest marches in various regions.

Protests Intensify Across Constituencies

In Huzurabad, a massive bike rally was organized under the leadership of MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy. The rally, which began at Sirsapalli Cross Road and ended at Shalapalli Indiranagar, reportedly saw participation from around 2,000 motorcycles and nearly 4,000 party workers. Slogans of “Jai Telangana – Jai KCR” echoed across the town. Kaushik Reddy warned that any attempt to target KCR with vendetta politics would be strongly resisted by the people.

At the Bhupalpally district headquarters, BRS cadres led by former MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy conducted a large bike rally followed by a road blockade (rasta roko). Leaders alleged that issuing SIT notices to KCR reflected the peak of political harassment by the Congress government. They claimed conspiracies were being hatched to tarnish the image of a leader who played a key role in achieving Telangana statehood.

In Sircilla, party leaders led by district president Thota Agaiah staged a protest with black flags at Ambedkar Chowrasta. They termed the cases against KCR baseless and criticized the investigation as harassment in the name of inquiry. The leaders asserted that their struggle against what they described as anti-people policies of the Congress government would continue.

In Edulapuram municipality of the Paleru constituency in Khammam district, BRS cadres organized a major protest program. District president and MLC Tata Madhusudan, along with former MLA Kandala Upender Reddy, addressed the gathering. They accused the Revanth Reddy government of adopting oppressive and undemocratic measures under the guise of SIT notices.

Former MLA Jeevan Reddy in Armur led hundreds of party workers in protest, wearing black flags. He stated that the Congress government, unable to politically confront KCR whom he described as the leader of the Telangana movement who fulfilled the aspirations of millions was resorting to false cases. In Kodangal, a large bike rally and road blockade were held under the leadership of former MLA Patnam Narendra Reddy, condemning the SIT notices as politically motivated.

Tension Near Shadnagar – Leaders Detained

Tension prevailed near Shadnagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad when police stopped the convoy of senior BRS leader Y. Ravinder Yadav, who was reportedly on his way to express solidarity with KCR. The police intercepted the convoy near Polimera Hotel, leading to heated exchanges. Ravinder Yadav criticized the move as authoritarian, stating they were heading peacefully to show support. With hundreds of party workers halted, the situation briefly turned tense.

BRS leaders said the statewide protests had infused new energy into the party. They collectively condemned the issuance of notices in what they called a baseless case and warned that the agitation would intensify if the government did not change its approach.
