BRS Failed Miserably in Exposing Congress Failures: Kavitha
Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha sharply reacted to the results of the Telangana municipal elections, alleging that the BRS party had “completely failed” in taking the failures of the ruling Congress party to the people. Speaking to the media on Saturday, she said the Congress party’s victory in the municipal elections was due to the inefficiency of the opposition parties .
Commenting on the Congress win, Kavitha said people voted for the party again because they did not see a credible alternative . She alleged that the BRS was not even questioning the steps being taken by the Congress government in the name of urban development and claimed that the government had not implemented even a single election promise . Despite this, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy conducted campaigning using government funds in violation of norms , she alleged. She demanded that at least in the upcoming budget sessions, the government should fulfil the promises it had made.
She noted that a party which had earlier won 90 per cent of municipalities had now been reduced to just 16 seats , and advised the BRS to introspect on why it had lost public support. Questioning the party’s strategy, she asked whether supporting the CPI in Kothagudem and backing those who had levelled allegations regarding the Kaleshwaram project amounted to accepting charges against former Chief Minister KCR.
Kavitha said they had earlier announced plans to enter politics as a party but contested on the All India Forward Bloc symbol at the last minute at the request of cadre. She said they won one municipality and were set to secure a Vice-Chairman post , while narrowly missing victory in 40 seats .
She also criticised the NDA government at the Centre , alleging it had not provided even a single rupee for Telangana’s development. She further remarked that there was a possibility of a future BRS-BJP alliance , describing the development as significant.
