Political tensions in Telangana escalated sharply on Thursday after violent clashes broke out between BRS and BJP workers in Karimnagar following controversial remarks made by Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy against Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar . The incident triggered chaos outside the camp office of senior BRS leader and former minister Gangula Kamalakar , leading to vandalism, police intervention and a lathi charge.

The confrontation began during a media interaction held at Gangula Kamalakar’s camp office in Karimnagar, where Kaushik Reddy launched a strong criticism of Bandi Sanjay over recent political developments in the state. According to BJP leaders, some of the comments made by the MLA were “personal and objectionable,” sparking anger among party cadres in the district.

Soon after the remarks surfaced, a large number of BJP workers gathered outside the camp office demanding an apology from Kaushik Reddy. Protesters raised slogans against the BRS MLA and accused him of insulting a senior BJP leader. The situation turned tense when several BJP activists allegedly attempted to enter the premises forcibly.

In the ensuing chaos, protesters reportedly attacked Kaushik Reddy’s vehicle parked outside the office. The car’s windows and windshield were smashed using stones and sticks. Flower pots, furniture and parts of the office property were also damaged during the violence. At the time of the incident, Kaushik Reddy was reportedly inside the building along with party supporters.

Police personnel deployed at the location struggled to control the crowd as protesters allegedly attempted to scale compound walls and storm the office. After repeated warnings failed to calm the agitators, police resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the gathering. Several BJP workers were detained and shifted to nearby police stations, while a few protesters sustained minor injuries during the police action.

Senior police officials later said that CCTV footage and videos from the incident were being examined to identify those involved in vandalism and violence. Additional police forces were deployed in sensitive areas of Karimnagar to prevent further clashes.

The incident has intensified the political rivalry between the BRS and BJP in north Telangana, particularly in Karimnagar and Huzurabad, where both parties have been aggressively trying to strengthen their support base ahead of future political battles.
