BRS Announces Week-Long Protests Against Congress Government’s ‘1,000-Day Betrayal’

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has announced a week-long statewide protest campaign from September 2 to highlight what it described as the Congress government’s failure to deliver on its election promises after completing 1,000 days in office.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) issued directions to party leaders, public representatives and state committee members during a teleconference, calling for an aggressive campaign to take the government’s alleged failures directly to the people.

KTR said Congress had come to power promising 420 assurances, 13 declarations and six guarantees, with a commitment to implement them within 100 days. He alleged that even after 1,000 days, the government had failed to fully implement its key promises.

As part of the campaign, the BRS plans to distribute special “dues cards” detailing what different sections of society are allegedly owed by the government. The cards will focus on pending financial assistance and arrears involving farmers, women, students, senior citizens and unemployed youth.

The BRS leader particularly targeted the government over pending fee reimbursement payments, alleging that more than ₹12,000 crore was due to colleges and students. He asked party leaders to take up the issue extensively at the college level and engage students and parents in the campaign.

The week-long programme will also focus on issues affecting farmers, women, students, Dalits, BCs, tribals, auto-rickshaw drivers and government employees, with separate protest activities planned for each section.

KTR directed the party cadre to make extensive use of social media to explain what it called the failures of the Revanth Reddy government to younger voters in a simple and accessible manner.

He said the protests should not remain confined to senior leaders but must reach the constituency, mandal and village levels. BRS MPs, MLAs, MLCs, constituency in-charges and grassroots workers have been asked to actively participate and build pressure on the government.

The BRS leadership expects the campaign to combine street-level protests with a coordinated digital outreach effort to underline its allegations of unfulfilled promises and pending welfare payments.
