Broken roads, broken commutes across Telangana

Following unprecedented heavy rainfall across the state, roads in Telangana have been left in a state of disrepair, causing daily hardship for commuters. From Hyderabad city to remote villages, road conditions have worsened dramatically. Large potholes have formed in many areas, and in some places, roads have completely caved in, disrupting transportation between villages. The BRS has strongly criticized the Congress government for showing complete neglect toward repairing these badly damaged roads.

Roads Damage in Hyderabad Conditions in Greater Hyderabad are equally alarming. Major city roads are riddled with potholes, which fill with rainwater and pose a danger to commuters. Roads near Rethibowli and Nanal Nagar signals have suffered severe damage, slowing down traffic considerably. The road leading to Madapur Ayyappa Society is entirely damaged. Areas like Chaderghat and Darul Shifa have seen a large number of potholes. The main roads in Nallakunta and Bag Lingampalli have been completely ruined. Potholes have also appeared on the Chandangar–Ameenpur route, and in areas like Vanasthalipuram, roads are entirely destroyed. According to GHMC, there are 14,871 pothole-affected spots across Greater Hyderabad. Authorities claim to have repaired 12,564 potholes, but thousands of residents are still facing daily difficulties.

Damaged Roads in Districts District roads are no better. Many have broken apart, making travel hazardous. In Nirmal district, the main BT road between Kanket and Vaikunthapur villages has collapsed over a stretch of nearly 50 meters. In other locations, uneven gravel roads make nighttime travel risky. In Kamareddy district, the BT road from the new bus stand to Ashok Nagar colony near the railway gate has developed large potholes in four locations, forcing residents to ride two-wheelers with caution.

BRS Criticizes Congress Government Despite the widespread road damage, the BRS has sharply criticized the Congress government for failing to make even minimal repair efforts. Across Telangana, residents are enduring daily hardships due to destroyed roads, with the government reportedly showing no intention even for basic patchwork. Traffic jams have become routine in the city during rainfall. BRS has demanded that the government take full responsibility, immediately repair the roads, and alleviate the difficulties faced by the public.
