Brazilian Football Legend Douglas Maicon to Visit Kolkata for Youth Talent Hunt

Former Brazil international defender Douglas Maicon, one of the most celebrated right-backs of his generation, will visit Kolkata on November 13 and 14 as part of a grassroots football development programme aimed at identifying and nurturing young Indian talent.

Maicon, who represented Brazil in 76 international matches between 2003 and 2014, will arrive in the city on November 13. The following day, he will attend a series of events at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre before interacting with children participating in a football talent hunt.

The initiative is expected to bring aspiring footballers closer to elite-level experience and offer them an opportunity to learn from a player who competed at the highest levels of international and club football. Maicon is visiting Kolkata as the global brand ambassador for King Sports Management, which is seeking to strengthen grassroots development and youth scouting.

The former defender featured for Brazil at two FIFA World Cups and established himself as one of the world's leading attacking full-backs during his career. He was also a key member of Inter Milan's historic 2009-10 treble-winning team, managed by Jose Mourinho, which won the Serie A title, Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League in the same season.

His arrival is expected to bring international exposure to India's emerging footballers, particularly those hoping to progress from grassroots competitions to professional clubs.

King Sports Management said Maicon's involvement would go beyond his role as a brand ambassador, describing him as an active catalyst for grassroots growth.

The company expects his association to strengthen youth scouting, introduce aspiring players to world-class technical insights and help build international pathways for Indian talent seeking professional football careers.

The two-day visit will add an international dimension to Kolkata's football landscape, with the talent hunt providing young players an opportunity to showcase their abilities and gain insights from a former Brazil star.
