Border 2 teaser out: Sunny Deol returns to the battlefield

The much-awaited teaser of Sunny Deol-starrer Border 2 was unveiled on Vijay Diwas, offering audiences a powerful first look at the upcoming war drama while reviving the legacy of one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated patriotic films.

The original Border , released in 1997 and directed by JP Dutta, was inspired by the real-life Battle of Longewala during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The film depicted a small battalion of Indian soldiers who courageously defended a remote border post against overwhelming enemy forces through the night. Border emerged as a massive blockbuster at the box office, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of 1997 and later winning the National Film Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration.

Border 2 returns to the same historical backdrop, expanding the story with a new generation of soldiers and fresh perspectives. The teaser showcases large-scale battle sequences, intense action and strong emotional moments, highlighting the courage, sacrifice and brotherhood of Indian soldiers. Alongside Sunny Deol, the film introduces Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty as the new faces joining the franchise.

The teaser opens with a powerful voiceover by Sunny Deol, instantly setting a patriotic tone. Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty are seen in gripping combat sequences, while glimpses of their characters’ personal lives underline the emotional cost of war. Sharing the teaser on social media, Deol wrote, “Awaaz kahan tak jaani chahiye… This #VijayDiwas, celebrate the most anticipated teaser of the year. #Border2 In Cinemas 23rd Jan 2026.”

Ahead of the teaser release, Ahan Shetty visited the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai. Sunny Deol attended the teaser launch event along with Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty, drawing significant attention from fans and the media. After releasing individual look posters in recent weeks, the makers have now offered a fuller glimpse of the film.

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh and Sonam Bajwa. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta and is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with JP Dutta’s JP Films. Continuing the blockbuster legacy of Border , the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on January 23, 2026.
