Border 2 becomes India’s highest-grossing war film, beats Fighter, Uri, Kesari

War drama Border 2 has achieved a remarkable milestone in just nine days since its release. Directed by Anurag Singh , the film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty , and has become India’s highest-grossing war film , raking in over ₹350 crore worldwide .

Domestically, the film earned ₹252.25 crore net (₹303 crore gross) by its ninth day, including an impressive ₹60 crore net collection on Republic Day . Overseas, Border 2 has garnered just over $5 million , bringing its total global revenue to a record figure. With this, the film has surpassed the lifetime collections of Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike (₹342 crore) and Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter (₹344 crore), as well as Akshay Kumar’s Kesari (₹202 crore).

Despite its commercial success, in terms of audience footfalls, Border 2 still trails behind classics like the original Border (over 3.7 crore tickets sold) and Haqeeqat (just under 2 crore tickets). Analysts note that most of India’s iconic war films were released before 2000 when box office numbers were lower, which explains this discrepancy.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the film also features Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Anya Singh in key roles. Riding on the success of Border 2 , T-Series has indicated that a Border 3 could be in the pipeline.
