Bomb threat to KLM flight at Hyderabad airport

Hyderabad airport witnessed a late-night security scare after a bomb threat email was received for an international KLM Airlines flight, prompting authorities to activate emergency safety protocols. The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew were found to be secure.

According to sources, the threat email targeting a KLM flight operating between Amsterdam and Hyderabad was received around midnight on Monday. Following standard security procedures, airport authorities closely monitored the situation, and the flight landed safely at Hyderabad airport around 1 am.

Officials confirmed that after touchdown, established safety checks were carried out and passengers were handled as per protocol to ensure their security. No untoward incident was reported.

This is not an isolated case. Earlier this month, Hyderabad airport received similar bomb threat emails for multiple international flights. On December 6, bomb threats were sent to the airport’s customer support ID for British Airways flight BA 277 from London Heathrow and Kuwait Airways flight KU 373 from Kuwait.

While the British Airways flight landed safely at Hyderabad at 5:25 am after precautionary measures were taken, the Kuwait Airways flight was forced to return to its departure airport, GMR Hyderabad Airport authorities said in an official statement.

A day earlier, on December 5, Emirates flight EK526 from Dubai to Hyderabad also received a bomb threat email. The aircraft continued its journey under heightened surveillance and landed safely at Hyderabad at 8:30 am. The plane was then taken to an isolated bay, and passengers were deboarded safely following standard operating procedures.

Airport authorities have reiterated that all threats are treated with utmost seriousness and handled strictly in accordance with established security protocols to ensure passenger safety.
