Bomb threat to Bahrain–Hyderabad flight turns out to be hoax

A bomb threat was received for a flight coming to Hyderabad from Bahrain on Sunday, prompting officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad to go on high alert. For safety reasons, the flight was immediately diverted to Mumbai, where it landed safely, police confirmed.

Based on the complaint from airport authorities, a case was registered in Hyderabad, police officials said. As the bomb threat mentioned the presence of an explosive on board, emergency measures were taken keeping the safety of passengers in mind. After the flight landed in Mumbai, CISF personnel, the bomb squad, and local police teams conducted thorough inspections.

The baggage, cabin, and cargo sections of the aircraft were carefully examined, but no suspicious objects were found, officials confirmed. Thus, the threat was declared to be completely a hoax. Police said that the investigation is underway to trace the person who sent the bomb threat. All passengers are safe, and flight operations have returned to normal, officials added.
