Bomb threat emails to 10 Delhi schools trigger security alert
At least 10 schools in the national capital received bomb threat emails on Monday, triggering a major security response and the evacuation of students and staff, officials said.
According to th e Delhi Fire Services (DFS), emergency calls were received from multiple educational institutions across different parts of the city during the morning hours. Fire tenders, along with bomb detection and disposal squads, were immediately rushed to the locations.
“A total of 10 schools received bomb threats today. Fire service teams reached the premises promptly, and checking is underway,” a DFS official said.
As a precautionary measure, the schools were evacuated and extensive searches were carried out by bomb disposal squads with the assistance of dog squads. Officials said no suspicious objects had been found so far, and the threats are being verified by security agencies.
Sources said the threat emails contained provocative statements such as “Delhi will become Khalistan” and also referred to an alleged future blast in the Indian Parliament on February 13 at 1:11 pm. The language has prompted security agencies to probe a possible separatist or disruptive motive.
However, officials clarified that no confirmed link to any Khalistani organisation has been established so far, and past incidents suggest such emails often turn out to be hoaxes intended to spread panic. Cyber and intelligence agencies are tracing the origin of the emails and examining digital footprints.
Authorities said all threats are treated as serious until investigations are completed to ensure the safety of students and staff.
