Boinpally Market Turns Into Dump Yard, MP Etela Rajender Demands Action

A serious sanitation crisis has erupted at the Boinpally Agricultural Market , raising concerns over civic negligence in one of the city’s key trade hubs. During an inspection, MP Etela Rajender expressed strong anger over the deteriorating conditions, interacting with farmers , traders , and workers who described the situation as unlivable. The market, which handles nearly 10,000 visitors daily and generates around ₹14–15 crore annually, is now overwhelmed by garbage accumulation , foul smell, and broken infrastructure. Rajender staged a dharna at the site, calling the yard a “dumping ground” and demanding immediate intervention.

The crisis, he noted, stems from months of unpaid dues to contractors , leading to a complete halt in sanitation services. As a result, heaps of decomposing waste have turned into toxic sludge, creating severe public health risks for those working in the market. Workers have reported rising illness, while declining customer footfall is affecting business and livelihoods. The lack of functional toilets , especially for women, has worsened the situation, with no water supply, damaged facilities, and safety concerns making even basic access difficult. In addition, the failure of drainage systems and empty water tanks have allowed wastewater to stagnate, intensifying the crisis.

Rajender criticized officials for resorting to temporary fixes such as sprinkling bleaching powder instead of addressing the root causes. He demanded immediate waste clearance , restoration of civic infrastructure, revival of the biogas facility, and clearance of pending payments. Escalating the issue politically, he questioned the state government’s priorities, contrasting large-scale development promises with the neglect of essential services. Alleging delays linked to commissions in bill approvals, he raised concerns over corruption and accountability. Warning of intensified protests, he said the agitation would continue until concrete steps are taken to resolve the crisis and restore normal functioning at the market.
