Bodyguard Tells Court Firing at Salman Khan’s Home Was Bid to Kill Him
A special court in Mumbai is currently hearing the case related to the firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence, with fresh testimony indicating the incident was allegedly an attempt on his life.
The trial, which began last month, opened with the deposition of Khan’s personal bodyguard, who is also the complainant. He told the court that the April 14, 2024 shooting outside Galaxy Apartments in Bandra was not a random act but a deliberate attempt to kill the actor.
Recounting the events, the bodyguard said he was on duty when, around 4 am, security personnel heard sounds resembling firecrackers. Upon checking CCTV footage, two helmeted individuals on a motorcycle were seen firing multiple rounds toward the building before fleeing the scene. He added that the attackers fired four to five rounds before escaping towards the “I Love Bandra” point and then to Mehboob Studios Road.
The witness highlighted that security around the actor had already been tightened due to threats linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi . However, during cross-examination, he admitted he had no direct knowledge of specific threats issued. At the time of the attack, Khan was inside his residence on the first floor and remained unharmed.
The prosecution presented CCTV footage in court, which the bodyguard identified, showing the suspects arriving and opening fire. Another witness, a police guard stationed at the building, told the court he did not witness the shooting but later saw bullet shells at the scene.
According to investigators, the attack was carried out by two men Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal who are currently in judicial custody along with other accused individuals. Police allege that reconnaissance of the actor’s residence was conducted days before the incident, and details were shared with Anmol Bishnoi, a wanted accused and brother of Lawrence Bishnoi. One of the accused died by suicide during police custody, while Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi remain absconding and have been named as wanted in the case.
