BMW Golf Cup 2026 begins in Chennai, focus on India’s top golfers

The BMW Golf Cup 2026 returned to India with its opening leg held in Chennai at the Tamil Nadu Golf Federation course on Anna Salai, marking the start of the 16th edition of one of the world’s largest amateur golf tournaments. The event once again brought together some of the country’s most competitive non professional golfers.

In a strong field, Hemant Kumar Sinha emerged as the Category A winner for players with handicaps up to 12, while Mohit Bajaj topped Category B for golfers with handicaps between 13 and 28. Both winners secured qualification for the National Final , scheduled to be held later this year.

While the tournament does not fall under the professional golf circuit or the Pro Golf Tour , the BMW Golf Cup is widely regarded as the most prestigious amateur competition globally. With qualifying rounds lined up across major Indian cities, the eventual winners will earn the chance to represent India at the BMW Golf Cup World Final , the pinnacle of the tournament.
