The BJP‑led Mahayuti alliance secured a decisive victory in the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad (ZP) and Panchayat Samiti elections, continuing its strong performance from the 2024 Assembly and recent municipal polls. According to the State Election Commission, Mahayuti won 552 of the 731 Zilla Parishad seats , reinforcing its dominance in rural local bodies across the state.

In the ruling Mahayuti alliance, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party with 225 seats , followed by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) with 165 seats and the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) with 162 seats . In the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) , the Congress led with 55 seats , the Uddhav Thackeray‑led Shiv Sena (UBT) secured 43 seats , and Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) won 26 seats . Both the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and independent candidates made small gains, with each winning a handful of seats.

The Mahayuti also swept the Panchayat Samiti polls , capturing over 1,000 of the 1,462 seats across 125 Panchayat Samitis. In these polls, the BJP won 459 seats, the NCP 306, and the Shiv Sena 302, while the Congress, NCP (SP), and Shiv Sena (UBT) won substantial minority shares.

District‑level results highlighted strong alliance unity and local variations. The NCP maintained its stronghold in Pune Zilla Parishad , winning 51 of 73 seats, buoyed by local support and a sympathy wave following the January 28 death of party leader Ajit Pawar in a plane crash. The Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) performed well in Raigad and Ratnagiri, while the BJP led in Sindhudurg and emerged as the largest party in Satara, Solapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Dharashiv, and Latur. In Kolhapur, the Congress was the single largest party.

Reacting to the results, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the outcome demonstrated that “rural Maharashtra has shown trust in the BJP and Mahayuti,” and that the alliance had “broken its previous record from 2017,” reflecting broad voter confidence in its governance agenda. He emphasised that the BJP had emerged as the largest party not only in urban and semi‑urban areas but also in rural regions, underscoring continued public support for its policies. Fadnavis also congratulated the party’s workers and voters for the achievement and said the results vindicated the alliance’s focus on development politics over what he termed the opposition’s “emotional appeals.”
