BJP stands with outdoor media owners against G.O. 68

At a meeting held at the BJP state office, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao met with members of the Telangana Outdoor Media Owners Association to hear their concerns. During the discussion, the party expressed full support for the cancellation of G.O. No. 68 (restricting the operations of small outdoor advertising agencies) and demanded protection for the livelihoods of small hoarding agencies.

Speaking on the issue, N. Ramchander Rao highlighted - in 2020, the then BRS government introduced G.O. No. 68. As a result, the operations of smaller advertising agencies were halted, and their services were banned in GHMC areas. The order seemed designed to benefit only three major agencies, creating significant injustice to smaller businesses.

The government is now attempting to remove hoardings of small agencies even in other municipal corporations where they continue to operate. This move has affected the livelihoods of nearly 50,000 families dependent on this industry.

The BJP is urging Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to immediately revoke G.O. 68. Small hoarding agencies must be allowed to continue operations without threats to their businesses, ensuring families relying on the industry are not left without income.

Ahead of previous elections, the Congress party had recognized this issue and promised a solution in its manifesto. However, despite being in power for 21 months, the problem remains unresolved. The ruling party must stop monopolistic control over the hoarding industry and safeguard the livelihood of families depending on it.
