The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained the Rahuri Assembly constituency in Maharashtra as its candidate Akshay Kardile secured a decisive victory in the by-election, defeating Govind Mokate of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) by a margin exceeding 1.12 lakh votes.

The bypoll was necessitated following the demise of sitting MLA Shivajirao Kardile , a prominent BJP leader in the region. The party fielded his son, Akshay Kardile, who carried forward the political legacy and garnered strong support from voters.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, Kardile polled 1,40,093 votes, while Mokate managed 27,506 votes, reflecting a massive electoral gap.

The emphatic win highlights the BJP’s continued dominance in the constituency and suggests a combination of organizational strength and voter sentiment working in its favour. Political observers note that the result also points to a possible sympathy wave and sustained grassroots backing for the Kardile family.

With this victory, the BJP not only retains the seat but also reinforces its position in Maharashtra’s political landscape.
