BJP protests Congress’ AI video of Modi’s late mother

The Maharashtra BJP held protests in Mumbai and Nashik on Saturday against an AI-generated video that reportedly showed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother. The video, shared by the Bihar Congress on social media platform X, has sparked outrage among BJP leaders, who called it disrespectful and insulting to all mothers.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, BJP MLC Chitra Wagh said the video was not just an attack on Modi’s mother but an affront to mothers across the country. She criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that the party had forgotten basic decency and decorum. Wagh added that the Bihar Congress seemed to have given up on focusing on the state’s elections, instead choosing to make personal attacks on the Prime Minister rather than discussing their manifesto or promises.

In Nashik, BJP MLA Devayani Farande led a similar protest. She described the video as reflecting the mentality of the Congress leadership. According to her, targeting the Prime Minister in this way shows that the opposition has no meaningful agenda and is resorting to personal attacks.

The video in question, shared by the Bihar Congress on September 10, depicts Prime Minister Modi “dreaming” about his late mother criticizing his politics in poll-bound Bihar. BJP leaders have called the act “highly condemnable” and offensive.

The Congress, however, has defended the video, stating that there was no intention to disrespect the Prime Minister or his mother. Despite the backlash, the party insists it was not meant as a personal attack.

The incident highlights growing tensions between the two parties, especially during the election season in Bihar, where political rhetoric is intensifying. With both sides trading accusations, the controversy over the AI-generated video has added fuel to an already heated political atmosphere.
