BJP President Nitin Nabin Says Youth Should Not Be Divided Into Gen Z, Gen Alpha Categories
BJP president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday said young people should not be divided into generational categories such as Gen Z and Gen Alpha, asserting that youth should be defined by their willingness to work hard, persevere and bring positive change rather than by age.
Speaking at the ‘Yuva Samvad’ programme organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Panaji, Nabin said anyone who strives to move forward and contribute to change in their life, state and country should be considered young.
“Today's youth should not be divided into different categories,” he said, adding that a person remains young as long as they retain the desire to struggle, progress and make a difference.
Nabin said the definition of youth should not be restricted to a particular age group. A person aged 15 or even 40–45 could be considered young if they continued to pursue change and progress, he maintained.
The remarks come amid youth-led protests in several parts of the country, driven largely by members of Gen Z. The Opposition Congress has also been conducting youth outreach programmes in various cities.
The interaction was part of Nabin’s two-day visit to Goa on October 27 and 28, during which he also held meetings with senior party leaders, MPs, MLAs, ministers and the BJP’s core committee. The meetings were aimed at strengthening the party organisation and discussing its preparations ahead of the Goa Assembly elections expected in early 2027.
Nabin has also highlighted youth aspirations and opportunities in other recent interactions. During a separate programme in Varanasi on October 8, he spoke about employment, artificial intelligence, startups and infrastructure development, emphasising the importance of young people’s ideas, abilities and aspirations.
The BJP has been engaging with young people through its youth wing to encourage direct dialogue and participation. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and state BJP president Damodar Naik were also present at Wednesday’s programme.
