BJP Plotting To Win Telangana By Deleting Votes, Alleges CM Revanth Reddy
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate the electoral process by using the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to delete votes supporting the Congress ahead of the next Assembly elections.
Addressing a meeting of Congress leaders and workers in his Kodangal Assembly constituency, Revanth Reddy alleged that the BJP was seeking to replicate what he described as a pattern of voter deletions witnessed in Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal through the SIR exercise.
The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP was now attempting to introduce a similar strategy in Telangana, particularly by targeting voters from SC, ST and minority communities. He claimed that minor discrepancies were being used as grounds for removing names from electoral rolls and warned that the Congress would strongly oppose any such attempt.
Revanth Reddy further alleged that the NDA government at the Centre was trying to engineer electoral gains in states governed by non-BJP parties. He also accused the BJP of previously using central agencies such as the ED and CBI against political opponents and said the alleged attempt to influence electoral rolls represented another means of securing political advantage.
He also alleged that the BRS was cooperating with the BJP in efforts aimed at weakening the Congress through voter deletions.
Revanth Reddy urged Congress leaders and workers to take responsibility for protecting every eligible voter’s right to vote. He asked booth-level agents to work in coordination at the grassroots level and ensure that no eligible voter, particularly from poorer and vulnerable sections, was left out of the electoral rolls.
He directed mandal-level leaders to take responsibility for four villages each and closely monitor every polling booth to prevent the deletion of eligible voters.
Calling for sustained vigilance, the Chief Minister asked party workers to counter what he described as the BJP-BRS strategy and safeguard the electoral rights of Congress supporters.
Revanth Reddy also credited the people of Kodangal with helping bring national recognition and greater attention to the constituency through their continued support.
