BJP National President Nitin Nabin to Visit Mahabubnagar Today

The campaign for the municipal elections scheduled to be held in Telangana on February 11 has gained momentum, with political parties intensifying their efforts. Aiming for a decisive victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership is working on strategic plans as part of its election drive.

As part of this initiative, BJP national president Nitin Nabin will formally launch the party’s municipal election campaign with a mass public meeting in Mahabubnagar.

This marks Nitin Nabin’s first visit to Telangana after assuming charge as BJP president. According to party sources, he is scheduled to arrive at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 1 pm and proceed to Mahabubnagar. He will address a meeting of booth-level and mandal-level party workers at 3 pm , before returning to Hyderabad at 5.45 pm .

Meanwhile, BJP leaders indicated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah may also campaign in Telangana in support of the party’s candidates in the municipal elections. The Telangana BJP leadership expressed confidence that the public meeting by Nitin Nabin would energise the party cadre and strengthen support for the BJP in the urban local body polls.

Encouraged by a strong performance in the recent gram panchayat elections, which were held on a non-party basis, the BJP is optimistic about achieving significant success in the upcoming municipal polls. The party aims to position itself as a credible alternative to the Congress and the BRS ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections.

In the 2023 Assembly elections, the BJP won eight seats and repeated the same performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party also secured two MLC seats in 2025 . However, it faced a setback in the recent Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election.

Ahead of the public meeting at the MVS College Grounds in Mahabubnagar, BJP state president Ramchander Rao , municipal elections in-charge Ashish Shelar , and MP DK Aruna inspected the venue and reviewed the arrangements. Party leaders have appealed to workers and supporters to attend the meeting in large numbers and make it a success.
