BJP leaders meet governor, raise concerns over HILT policy
Political tensions are rising in Telangana over land protection issues. A delegation of BJP leaders, led by Telangana BJP President Ramachandra Rao, met the Governor in Hyderabad, alleging a massive land scam in the state.
The delegation expressed strong opposition to the Hyderabad Industrial Lands Transformation (HILT) Policy (GO No. 27) introduced by the Congress government, claiming it is an attempt to transfer thousands of crores worth of public land to private real estate developers at throwaway prices.
BJP leaders warned that the policy could result in 9,292 acres of industrial land in and around Hyderabad being handed over to private companies, potentially causing a loss of nearly ₹5 lakh crore in public assets. They demanded a full investigation into what they termed a “major land scam,” suggesting the appointment of a retired High Court judge to conduct the probe.
The party accused the state government of prioritizing real estate interests over public welfare and called for the immediate revocation of the HILT policy. As part of their statewide protest plan, the BJP announced a major demonstration on December 7 at Indira Park Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad.
The delegation that met the Governor included BJP Legislative Party leader Mahesh Reddy, MLC Anjireddy, and other senior leaders.
