BJP Leader Prakash Reddy Demands Speedy Probe into Telangana Phone Tapping Case

BJP leader Prakash Reddy on Monday urged the Telangana government to expedite the investigation into the phone tapping case that has stirred political controversy in the state.

Speaking to the media, he expressed concern that the probe has been ongoing for over two years , warning that further delays could lead to the loss of crucial evidence . He questioned why the investigation had not progressed despite the government already possessing documentary evidence .

Prakash Reddy referred to the recent questioning of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) , who was examined for nearly five hours . He said that using the investigation as a reason for delays is creating confusion among the public . He demanded that the probe be completed promptly and a chargesheet filed in court without further delay.

The case revolves around allegations that phones of political opponents, journalists, retired police officials, and leaders were illegally monitored during the previous BRS government to track their activities. These details were earlier disclosed by former Deputy Commissioner of Police P. Radhakrishna Rao .

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has already questioned senior BRS leaders , including K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao , as part of the inquiry.

The phone tapping case has now become a major political flashpoint in Telangana. While the BJP is pressing for a swift and transparent investigation , the BRS has dismissed the case as politically motivated harassment .
