BJP leader praises Digvijay Singh’s remarks on RSS organizational strength

Telangana BJP state spokesperson Prakash Reddy has expressed appreciation for Congress senior leader Digvijay Singh’s recent comments recognizing the organizational strength of the RSS. Prakash suggested that Digvijay’s remarks could also serve as a subtle warning to Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking on the issue, Prakash Reddy highlighted that Digvijay, a former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and a senior Congress leader, openly acknowledging the RSS’s structural efficiency is noteworthy. “It is encouraging to see a prominent Congress leader like Digvijay Singh recognize the organizational framework of the RSS,” Prakash said.

Prakash further pointed out that, even though Digvijay opposes RSS ideology, the principles underlying it - such as discipline, dedication, and organizational skill - have contributed to the strength of the RSS and the BJP.

The controversy began when Digvijay Singh shared a black-and-white photograph on X showing a young Narendra Modi seated on the floor during a 1990s event in Gujarat, alongside senior BJP leader L.K. Advani. Digvijay noted that the photo was sourced from Quora.

In his post, Digvijay praised the organizational structure that helped a grassroots RSS worker and Jan Sangh activist rise to become a state Chief Minister and eventually the Prime Minister. Digvijay tagged leaders from both the BJP and Congress, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jairam Ramesh, and Narendra Modi. He concluded his post with the phrase “Jai Shivram.”

Following widespread reactions on social media, Digvijay clarified that his remarks were misunderstood. He emphasized, “I have never supported RSS or Modi; I have always opposed their ideology and continue to do so. I merely acknowledged their organizational strength. Appreciating a strong organizational structure is not the same as supporting the ideology.”

Digvijay also raised questions about the RSS’s transparency. “If it is an NGO, where are its rules and regulations? Nevertheless, I acknowledge the extraordinary growth and organizational capacity of the RSS, which is impressive even without official registration,” he said, citing Modi’s own remarks at the Red Fort, where he called RSS the largest NGO in the world.

The discussion has sparked intense debate across political circles, with reactions from both Congress and BJP leaders drawing attention to the role of organizational strength and ideology in Indian politics.
